Pardon... I'm Sorry, You Must Have Me Confused With Someone Else

Yep, that's me in the Oxford sweater

So unless you have been under a rock these past weeks then you should know that Prince William and Kate Middleton are engaged! So for all of us ladies that grew up with Will hoping to be the next Princess I guess Kate will have to do. *sigh* I really think she will do a great job!
It all started with my first trip to London with my Mom at age nine. Of course at that age every little girl is obsessed with princesses and I was no exception. Princess Diana was and still is one of my idols and I can tell you exactly where I was on that tragic day August 31, 1997. Until now, I had no idea of the crazy connection I have with her and the soon to be Princess.
One day back in the sixties, my Grandparents were walking the streets of New Orleans where they stumbled upon a jewelry shop. Although I never had the pleasure of meeting my Grandmother Eloise I have learned a lot about her from her extravagant baubles, and this one is my favorite. She had her eye on a sparkly blue star sapphire encircled with diamonds and had no problem letting George know exactly what she desired. Sadly, her right hand left New Orleans bare, well more like one finger was bare b/c she had more rings than fingers. Anyways, a few months later on Christmas morning, clever George had hidden the ring in a large box for her to open. And there it was... sorry Diana and Kate we had it first!
So Eloise handed the ring down to my Mom at her graduation and then it was given to me shortly after my 25th birthday. Both of us agree that it is our favorite piece from Lady Eloise and we are still as truly mesmerized by how the star catches the light just the same as we were when we were little girls.

Pleasantly Yours,
Pretty in Pink Tights
