Forget Doing More

If you are like me... your faults are...

You want to (must) do everything perfect.
You never want to disappoint anyone.
You take on a huge load.
You stress out and keep it all inside.
You very rarely ask for help.

I am telling myself to STOP IT!
and you should too.

I recently turned 30 and honestly, I didn't freak out about it like some do.
Not to name names, rhymes with smushband, may have been a little on edge about the big 3-0.
Nothing wrong with that. It's hard to face getting older.
I get that.

But 30 for me was more of a way to start anew.
A milestone, a new decade to become better for my family and myself.
I realized I need to let go of some of my Type A traits and just try my best, not be the best.

So, for those of you out there like me, take a breath or three, and just try your best.

And if any of you are already on this journey, please share your advice!
Cause I'm just getting started.

Have a pleasant week!

It Seams Sew Easy...

I'm going to do it.

I am going to finally learn how to sew.

My mother in law gave me her sewing machine 7 years ago and learning how to sew has been goal of mine ever since. I've made it my New Year's Resolution over and over and this year I am really going to do it, really!

Maybe it's the countdown to my 30th birthday that has given me the motivation, or maybe it's the super cute little girl dresses that I see for sale on facebook that I race to the checkout for and end up leaving with nada because they sell out in less than a minute! (moms of little girls... you know what I'm talking about :) or maybe it's just the need to try something new.

whatever it is, I'm going for it.

and to keep me accountable, I will post my progress right here... once a month...

I have so many fond memories watching my Mom sew everything from halloween costumes to my very first prom dress! She has a singer sewing machine just like this one and I can still hear that thing sing!

I can only hope to be as good as her.

Now... where the heck to I start!?
